Naidistsch, Isaac

(1868-1949)

   Russian philan-thropist and Zionist. He was born in Pinsk, and lived in Moscow, where he was an alcohol industrialist. An ardent Zionist, he contributed to Hebrew periodicals. At the beginning of the World War I, he was a founder and director of the Central Committee for the Relief of Jewish War Sufferers. After the Russian Revolution, he became a strong supporter of Hebrew culture. Later he emigrated to France, but he fled to the US during the Nazi occupation. He returned to Paris in 1941. He was a friend and advisor of Chaim Weizmann.
